A battle between champions

Can England wind up its tour with win in T20 game?

It is a battle between former World Twenty20 champion India and reigning champion England at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday.

Having won the One-Day Internationals 5-0, India will be looking to stamp its class in this T20 game as well.

The Indian players had a workout on Friday morning and seemed to enjoy the session after a short break for Deepavali.

England too had two days off in which a few players enjoyed a round or two of golf and visited an NGO to spend some time with orphaned children.

Swann confident

New captain Graeme Swann sounded confident of a good show. “It has been good fun. It is a chance for us to salvage a bit of pride. It is a chance for me to get my hands on the game as a leader after the 5-0 loss," he said at the pre-match press conference.

“It is very nice that the five-match series has ended. We can actually focus on T20 cricket. Sometime change is good.

“Everyone is positive and we are looking forward to it. The spirit is quite good. It is a very resilient England squad," he said.

Robin Uthappa, who has come into the side for the T20 game, said the team was looking forward to top its ODI success with another win.

"We have done well in the ODI series and we hope to do well in this format of the game,'' he said. “`It will be nice to have some icing on the cake."

"England is No. 1 in the world in this format. And having lost the ODI series, they will come hard at us. And we are ready for them," said Uthappa, one of the hardest hitters of the ball in Indian cricket.

England has some injury problems with their main batsman Kevin Pietersen missing the final match of the ODI series.

When asked about KP's availability Swann said, “I don't know at this moment about his availability. He just had a pretty tough work-out and we will see his chance of playing on Saturday morning. But he looked positive at practice," he said.

Swann further elaborated that he and his team members were looking to approach the game with freshness.

The lanky bowler said he was disappointed with the way England bowlers bowled so far on the tour. “I have not bowled as well as I would have hoped," he admitted.
