A year has gone but the memories of the bright quizzer S. Gnanashankar is kept alive by his friends. They started a quiz competition last year in memory of the 17-year-old who drowned in Tunga River, while on a visit to Sringeri with his parents and sister.

Gnanashankar was an avid quizzer and dreamt of starting a quiz competition to put Madurai on the list of top performing cities. “We were part of the Mahatma CBSE quiz team and wanted to ensure that Madurai is second to none in terms of quizzing talent and number of competitions. We have realised his dream,” says Viswesh Krishnan.

Viswesh and seven other friends including Sivamurugan, started The S-Martini’s, an event management entity, that hosts the event. “Gnanashankar died on June 5 and his birthday falls on June 29, so every year we have planned to organise the quiz on his birth anniversary,” he says.

Entries are free for the competition for students of class VI to XII. There is no restriction in number of registrations from each school but only two teams from a school will qualify for the final round on stage. On the spot registrations are also welcome.
