Radio City on Sify
Sify Technologies has tied up with Radio City 91.1 FM to launch web radio on Sify.com. According to a press release, the content of the web radio will be different from the terrestrial programming of Planet Radio City. Some of the interesting features are uninterrupted streaming at speeds 128 Kbps and programming featuring some of the popular RJs of Radio City.
The press release quoted Natesh Mani, president, consumer infrastructure services, Sify Technologies: “We believe, Radio on Sify, is a complete ‘fun and masti’ offering to young professionals.” Commenting on the partnership with Sify, Rachna Kanwar, head of digital media and new business, Radio City 91.1 FM said: “This is a strategic move for Radio City. With over 17 million unique visitors a month, Sify.com is one of the leading portals for information, communication and entertainment among Indians worldwide. Radio City was the first radio station to launch a multi-genre Indian web radio. Now through the partnership, we hope to increase our listener base.”
Users are given the option to make dedications for the Radio shows through Sify.com. Currently the programming seems heavy on Bollywood and Indipop.
PlayStation network back online
Sony has finally shut a chapter on its worst nightmare ever — the hacking of its PlayStation network, the stealing of passwords and credit details of over 77 million users worldwide and the subsequent shutting down of its online network. After a three-week maintenance break, the Japanese electronics giant has finally re-launched its PlayStation online network. The top executives of the company, in a symbolic gesture, bowed their heads at a press conference, apologising for compromising the personal details of scores of its users. Whether the gamers are game enough to forgive and forget and move on, only time will tell.
