SAP Labs hosts technology events

This week, global IT solutions and enterprise resource planning (ERP) firm SAP Labs organised its two flagship technology events: a three-day annual conference ‘Tech Ed’ on its campus, and a technology event for college students, ‘Techniversity 2012’, at the KTPO grounds in Bangalore. Over 5,000 students from around 200 universities across India attended the event that sought to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship and bridge the industry–academic gap.

Tech Ed, touted as a premiere conference that offered over 450 hours of knowledge sessions on SAP technologies like SAP NetWeaver, analytics, and mobile platforms, witnessed participation from over 6,300 technology enthusiasts, a release from SAP Labs stated.

Techniversity began with a keynote session by grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, who spoke on the importance of learning and emphasised the need for students to follow their dreams and challenge themselves to excel.

Remote monitoring system for ATM units

WebNMS, a network and management solutions provider, launched ATM Site Manager, a ‘machine-to-machine’ solution for the banking industry.

The ATM Site Manager would remotely monitor passive infrastructure such as air conditioners, camera and lighting systems across thousands of ATM sites in real time, a release from the company stated.

TCS bags U.K. government contract

Tata Consultancy Services, IT services, consulting and business solutions major, won a multi-million, multi-year contract from a key department of the United Kingdom government, the Home Office, to manage the technology needs and support services of the newly formed Disclosure and Barring Service.

According to a release from TCS, the company would provide end-to-end process, technology and operations support for an initial period of five years.
