VEBBLER ANNOUNCES NEW FEATURES
Two months after its launch, homegrown social network Vebbler introduced two new features: chat and private messaging. Vebbler is also unveiling other add-ons such as shortcuts for tagging people, sharing your location, syncing accounts with other social networks, new icons and designs and ability to add photos directly from your webcam. The company, in a release, claimed that it was an easy-to-use and fresh interface that allowed people to connect in a secure manner. “Because Vebbler as a platform offers layers for different relationships, we have incorporated the same into our chat feature allowing users to switch on or switch off any layer, depending on how people wish to share with the people around them. We have also offered a fresh user experience by incorporating the complexities of chat and private messaging features on a single strip,” said Sahil Bhagat, founder, Vebbler, in the release.
LAVA’s PLANS IN EDUCATION
Indian mobile handset maker LAVA International has announced its plans for the digital education sector. It announced the launch of M-TAB in Meghalaya, where 11,000 units were delivered to students under the government’s Student Digital Learning Scheme. The scheme is one of the government’s Information Technology-centric initiatives for which Lava has tied up with iProf, which provides digital education solutions, a Lava release stated.
Lava M-TAB comes with an in-built education app — Digital Library which enables students to access educational content. All the tablets presented to the students were pre-loaded with study materials for classes XI and XII of CBSE and Meghalaya Board of School Education, Lava’s release stated.
S.N. Rai, Co-Founder and Director, Lava International Ltd., said: “In the next two to three years, we foresee a strong adoption of tablets in India, particularly in the education sector. Lava intends to tap this opportunity through its customised tablets for the education sector and provide an enriching student learning experience.”
‘WORLD'S SLIMMEST PHONE’ COMES TO INDIA
Leading ICT firm Huawei on Friday unveiled the “world’s slimmest smartphone”, Huawei Ascend P6, measuring just 6.18 mm. Touted as the slimmest phone in the world, weighing 120g, this smartphone offers a combination of aesthetics and power performance with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor that runs on Android OS 4.2.2, a release from the Chinese firm stated.
Victor Shanxin, President of Huawei Devices, India, said, in a release: “The Ascend P6 has already received a tremendous response from global consumers. The phone has also been awarded the title of ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2013–2014 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).” The phone costs Rs. 29,999.
