Pop star Britney Spears snatched the Twitter crown from movie actor Ashton Kutcher, as the number of Internet users signed up to follow her messages on the micro-blogging Website reached nearly 5 million. As of late Monday, Spears, 28, had 4.95 million registered followers to Kutcher’s 4.94 million.
“WOW!!!!! #1 on Twitter! Thank you!” Spears said in a tweet, the system’s 140-character broadcasts.
Kutcher, 32, asked through Twitter how he felt, responded “I don’t care.” In April 2009 the actor challenged and beat the news feed of broadcaster CNN to reach a million Twitter followers first. Kutcher is married to actress Demi Moore, 47, also a keen tweeter with 2.72 million followers.
