Star player Cristiano Ronaldo was almost stretched, but an extra time goal by Eder saw Portugal beat hosts France 1-0 in Sunday's Euro 2016 final to win their first major tournament. Soon after, football fans took to social media to share their thoughts and love with #Euro2016.

Many videos and GIF images were doing the rounds in the social media, but this one was the most tweeted.

Twitter sport also took the opportunity to share a slideshow of images from the tournament.

For a few hours in the evening #UPGoesGreen was trending, as the government of Uttar Pradesh declared that more than 1 crore saplings have been planted in the State.

However, hours before that #AkhileshDestroyedUP started trending, where people were complaining about lack of development and rise of crime in the State. There were a few tweets bashing against the ones who complained.
