Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s second largest handset maker, will launch an online store for mobile applications in China and Brazil in late January, the company said Monday.
The online application store, “Samsung Apps,” will begin service to Omnia II (I8000) and OmniaLITE (B7300, I329) users in China and Brazil starting from Jan. 29, providing application programs in games, social networking apps, as well as e-books, with further plans to add more programs through third-party publishers including Electronic Arts, Crazysoft Limited, and Shazam, Samsung said.
“To help customers get the best out of their Omnia devices, we are carefully categorizing our applications and services, making them accessible, easily searchable, and always relevant to users,” Kanghyun Kwon, Vice President of Samsung’s Media Solution Center, said in a statement.
Having already seen success in Britain, France and Italy, and with its recent launch of apps stores in Germany and Singapore, Samsung Apps will also release Chinese language-based applications in China market, the company said, adding that it hopes to speed up its rapid expansion to the global market.
