Priya Prakash Varrier: 2.9 million Instagram followers and counting

In just two days, the young actor’s Instagram account has added over 2 million followers, making it one of the fastest growing accounts in India.

If you haven’t heard of the Manikya Malaraya Poovi song and Priya Prakash Varrier by now, you must have been on one of those digital sabbaticals.

The song from the Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love directed by Omar Lulu has been adding sensational numbers on YouTube a mere four days after it went up. One YouTube upload has registered over 15 million views. The highlight of the song is ‘that wink’ by Priya Prakash Varrier, who has become a social media sensation overnight. A see-saw with her eyebrows and that lingering wink has made her one of the fastest growing Indian celebrities online. Sample this: in just two days, the young actor’s Instagram account has added over two million followers, making it one of the fastest growing accounts in India.

 

Her Facebook page, where she started posting on February 10, has already added over 250,000 followers.

On February 11 and 12, the words ‘Priya Prakash Varrier’, ‘Priya Varrier video’, and ‘Priya Varrier Instagram’ were some of the most searched for words on Google.

The song which was originally composed by Thalassery K. Refeeque has been revisited by Jimikki Kammal fame Shaan Rahmaan and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan. The movie will have an Eid release.
