Despite repeated assurances from the government on lifting the ban on YouTube, the website, though accessed through proxy servers, remains out of bounds for Pakistanis.

Demands for the ban to be lifted have been made many times and on Tuesday the National Assembly passed a resolution demanding that it be lifted soon. Pakistan Peoples Party member Shazia Marri moved the resolution which was unanimously endorsed. In response, the government once again said the ban would be lifted shortly but it needed to be discussed properly.

YouTube was blocked in September 2012 following upload of a controversial film.
