A British couple, who rekindled their romance when they met on social networking site Facebook 27 years after they split, have tied the knot.

Paul Eaton first fell for Dawn Pitman when he stayed at a bed and breakfast facility in the early 1980s; the pair — then 29 and 21 — split after 18 months as she wasn’t ready for commitment.

Paul married and had two sons, but divorced. He joined Facebook, entered Dawn’s name and “hoped for the best”. Up came holiday snaps of his old flame. The pair got together in 2008 and married two days back in her home town of Exmouth, The Sun reported.

Paul, 56, of Barnsley, said: “It was a bit scary when I contacted her. I just asked her if she remembered me.”

Dawn, 48, who has a 21-year-old son, added: “I knew he was the man for me from day one.”
