HP enters public cloud services arena
Global IT major Hewlett-Packard announced the beta release of its first public cloud services that will enable developers to build the next generation of Web applications.
Starting May 10, HP Cloud Services would provide its first generation of cloud infrastructure, platform services and cloud solutions for developers, independent software vendors and enterprises of all sizes. The company now offers organisations a single-sourced hybrid delivery solution that spans traditional IT as well as private, managed and public clouds, a press release from the firm stated.
Built on HP Converged Infrastructure and HP software, with a developer-friendly integration of OpenStack technology, HP Cloud Services deliver an Open Source-based public cloud infrastructure with business-oriented features. These address developer needs and meet organisational requirements for workload availability, manageability and portability, while eliminating the constraints of a closed operating environment and vendor lock-in, the release added.
Skill development programme
Cyber security firm Symantec announced that it has partnered with the Government of Meghalaya for a skill development programme to provide comprehensive training and create opportunities for IT-ITeS employment. Upon completion of the course, over 1,500 participants would be qualified for a variety of IT roles and receive placement assistance through Symantec partners, a press release from the firm stated.
Students will experience hands-on, instructor-led classroom training covering the gamut of IT operations, from IT fundamentals to networking, security, data centre management, storage, archiving, disaster recovery and availability.
According to the release, the 12-month programme comprises 10 courses, and would be conducted in three batches. While this programme is open to high school graduates, it is specifically designed to cater to the requirements of college students.
