Nokia launches Qwerty device

Messaging is booming and Nokia is tapping into the demand for affordable and easy-to-use phones, especially for youth, with its latest Qwerty device (mobile phone with standard typewriter keyboard). Launching Nokia X2-01 here on Tuesday, T. S. Sridhar, Regional General Manager (South), Nokia India, said “Qwerty is one of the fastest growing mobile phone categories in the world due to the rise in messaging and social networking. The Nokia X2-01 makes it easy to set up chat and e-mail direct from the mobile phone.”

The new Nokia X2-01, simultaneously launched all India, is designed to appeal to youth with its low price, colourful designs and optimised messaging performance, Mr. Sridhar said. It will be available at Rs. 4,459.

The handset is a Series 40 2G phone with VGA camera and FM radio. It also has Bluetooth and can support up to an 8GB microSD memory card and has a standby battery time of up to 20 days.

The Nokia X2-01 is available in a range of colours.
