We have all been in situations where we get a message, but are not able to send a reply immediately. It is in these times that most of us wish that we could respond with a yes or no by just swiping our finger. Well, a new app called Knock helps you to do just that. It is a mobile app for Android phones, developed by Dexetra, that helps you to convert messages to a call. The company conducted a market research and found out that 70 percent of all calls made are status calls like “Where are you?” or “Have you left?” These questions require only a monosyllable as an answer.
Sending text messages sure is a good way to go in such situations, but a respondent could be in a meeting, or driving. In such circumstances, it is impossible to type out a message in response. Also, a call would also not be possible in such situations. The makers figured out a solution. They figured that people could use a messaging system where they can send messages to their contacts on the same platform. The message would show as a call on the receiver’s phone, and he would just have to swipe for a “yes” or a “no” as a response, in addition to share his location, send a message, or call back. If a Knock is not responded to within 60 seconds, it gets deleted and a notification is sent to the sender.
The app is free to install and use and works with the help of your phone’s 3G network or WiFi to communicate with people.
The app is very simple to use, and sending a knock is as simple as sending a message. When you get a knock, you just have to swipe for a yes or no. You would also be able to send a message or call the person. The response can be seen on the home screen of your phone. It is as ephemeral as Snapchat, real time like Skype or Viber, and is simple to set up like WeChat or Whatsapp, at the same time being as effective as a phone call.
