Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduces the new iPad during an event in San Francisco, on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.
The device, according to Apple, will vividly display books, newspapers, websites and videos on a 24.3-cm glass touchscreen.
The iPad “is so much more intimate than a laptop, and it’s so much more capable than a smartphone with its gorgeous screen,” Steve Jobs said while introducing it to a group of invited guests at the Moscone Center.
Some versions of the iPad will be commercially available in March, he said.
The iPad costs around $499 to $829 (about Rs.23,250 to Rs.38,600).
Critics say it does not have features such as camera and Flash. For some, it was little more than an oversize iPod Touch.
