With a multitude of lighter devices governing our lives, the next tech innovation seems to be in the arena of battery chargers. If Pavan Pudipeddi is to be believed, you may no longer require charging cables in the near future. Pudipeddi is one of the founding members of Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), responsible for the Qi standard followed by all the major wireless charging brands, and co-founder of PowerSquare, a company that builds platform-agnostic, wireless charging solutions. In essence, you may no longer need to pack in bulky battery banks on trips or look for a charging unit, just before an important presentation, since your phone is out of juice.

Pudipeddi says, “We feel that wireless technology is going to create a major shift. We are presently manufacturing devices for wireless power transfer with a key focus on mobiles, wearable tech and automotive components. We have recently launched an in-car wireless charging solution and are working towards a newer version of a wireless charging mat and power bank.”

PowerSquare has a Qi wireless charger and claims that device allows your devices to move more freely. “Most other chargers have small pads that often stop charging if the device moves slightly. We have technology that ensures that you have a carefree charging experience. We also want to solve the problem of charging multiple devices.”

Pudipeddi points out, “We have been working in this field for more than a decade, and are one of the pioneers. Wireless chargers emit an alternating magnetic field through the transmitter coil, which induces an alternating voltage/current in the receiver coil inside the device. In the long run, we think our devices can be installed on anything from dinner tables to bar tops.”

He adds, “Wireless charging is the area where the focus is on right now; with Apple leading the way, it is in high demand among users of high-end phones. I feel that wireless charging technology will change the way in which we use our devices completely.”
