The faster, upgraded twin of iPhone is here with the next big upgrade — multimedia
Another year, another iPhone. The Apple iPhone 3G S scores where its predecessor fell short. For starters, Apple promises that you’ll see up to a 100 percent jump in web page rendering, opening of attachments, and performance in apps and games, courtesy the ‘S’ for speed.
The next big upgrade: multimedia. The new 3-meg snapper supports autofocus as well as manual. Video recording enables you to trim the clips before MMS-ing or emailing. Voice control to call your contacts and play music. Time to take on that American accent! But what will make the 3GS hit the bulls-eye is the built-in digital compass that lets you auto-orient your route when on the move. Atlantis, here we come!
Network Apple’s finally made the upgrade to 3G HSDPA . This means blisteringly fast internet speeds over capable networks
Battery life A promising 5 hours of 3G, 9 hours of Wi-Fi, 10 hours video playback and 30 hours audio playback. 2G talk time is 12 hours
Tethering You can finally use your phone’s connection on your laptop via Bluetooth or USB. However, this feature is entirely carrier dependent, so keep your fingers crossed
Camera The phone supports ‘Tap To Focus’. Click anywhere on the screen and the camera will focus in that zone. Lowlight performance has also been upped
Storage There are two variants of the 3G S: 16GB and 32GB. If you’re a big fan of watching movies on the move, go with the latter option
Search Flick from left to right to activate Spotlight Search. Identical to Spotlight on the Mac, this feature offers instant search results from your contacts, mails, notes, apps, calendar and so on
