Rs. 6,000 crore for Space Dept.

Major thrust on launch vehicle technology projects with allocation of Rs. 2,148 crore

The Union Budget has allocated Rs. 6,000 crore for the Department of Space in the Union Budget for 2015-16, with a major thrust on launch vehicle technology projects.

With the emphasis on the projects, the government has allocated Rs. 2,148 crore for developments in this direction.

For total launch support and tracking satellites, the government has allocated Rs. 651 crore. For operations of the INSAT programmes, including GSAT and INSAT satellites, Rs. 1,281 crore has been allocated. To launch a heavy communication satellite, GSAT-15, with 40 transponders, Rs. 165 crore has been allocated.
