The much-awaited launch of India's longest-range ballistic missile, Agni-V, which was scheduled to take place from Wheeler Island on Wednesday night, was postponed to Thursday morning because of lightning and thunderstorm.
The first developmental trial was originally scheduled between 8 and 8.30 pm on Wednesday. But charged clouds, persistent lightning and thunder forced the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to reschedule the launch between 7.30 am and 8.30 am on Thursday.
According a top DRDO official, the test was deferred for safety reasons.

Seriously?!?!?! so when this gets operational and we need to employ it
God Forbid, we'll wait for the weather to clear up and use it for
minimal deterrence? Who are we kidding?
Just out of curiosity, if there's a thunderstorm during wartime, will
AGNI be useless thence?
Sure.In the event of war, we will wait for good weather to fire these
missiles.
I dont understand one thing. Why they need to stop the test due to weather?.. In war when there is emergency and there is absolute need to launch a missile, weather may not be good always.. What i think is this is the right time to test. We can know elaborately how we can manage a real time scenario with safety or bad weather etc...
How about researching towards improving technology that overcomes weather conditions too? to be frank I am novice in space technologies but would like to know if there is any such research is going on? if not apart from eyeing on long range missiles it is advisable to research on readily taming bad weather conditions. Anyhow wishing all the best to Agni-V team :)
In India where there are 35% poverty rate and numerous people going to bed hungry and with a lot of debt why does India need Agni? Money could be spent on Sanitation, roads and bridges.
It is a joke to put off an ICBM launch because of bad weather. What will
the DRDO do if we are in the middle of a war and have to launch one and
we have bad weather. This is not some kite flying contest to postpone
until good weather.
So I guess there won't be any wars fought when the weather is bad!
