About 700 plastic surgeons from across India to take part in the conference

Advances in the field of plastic surgery and specific areas such as management of birth defects and deformities caused by burns will be among many issues that will be discussed at the 46{+t}{+h} Annual Conference of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India that will be held at Hotel Le Meridian from September 7 to 11.

The formal inauguration, however, will be on September 8 by Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N. Ram, president of the association S. Raja Sabapathy said here on Saturday.

Chairman of Coimbatore Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar is the guest of honour. Pioneer in microsurgery Robert Acland from the United States will be given honorary membership of the association.

Coimbatore got the opportunity to hold the conference because this year the president of the association was from Coimbatore. Dr. Raja Sabapathy is the Director and Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Microsurgery in Ganga Hospital.

About 700 plastic surgeons from across India and 21 other countries would participate in the conference. The events would include a live surgery session at Ganga Hospital on September 7.
