The Haryana government Monday announced that in future it will allot land to only those private hospitals and give recognition to private educational institutions who provide free or concessional services to economically weaker sections of society.

Haryana's Education and Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal said the state government had also decided that the land to private hospitals would now be allotted by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) with the condition that free or concessional health facilities were provided by them to the people of weaker sections.

A notification to this effect had already been issued by the state government, she added.

Ms. Bhukkal added that in future, recognition to private schools would be granted only if their management provided for free or concessional education to children belonging to economically weaker sections of society.

The hospitals and schools will be allowed to cater to regular patients and students respectively.

She said that district-level committees under respective deputy commissioners would be constituted to ensure that people of the weaker sections of societies got educational and health facilities as per the government's instructions.

Civil surgeons and education officers in all 21 districts of the state will be part of the committees to ensure that instructions are properly implemented, the minister added.

The committees will review every month the facilities provided by the private schools and hospitals to weaker sections of society.
