I have dark spots on my face.Revathi

If the spots are due to sun exposure, apply a sunscreen with a high SPF before going out in the sun. Mix rice powder with curd and use it as a facial scrub once or twice a week. Apply it on your face, rubbing the skin gently with tiny circular movements, especially on the dark spots. Leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off. Do not apply it on the pimples. Mix honey and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply it daily on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Twice a week, apply a face mask. Mix three teaspoons of oatmeal with one teaspoon each of honey, curd and lemon juice, or egg white. Apply it on your entire face, avoiding the lips and the area around your eyes. Wash it off after half an hour.

Suggest home remedies to get rid of stretch marks.Priya

Stretch marks generally fade with time, but never do so completely, as they form due to the destruction of skin elasticity. Massage the area daily with olive oil. Mix gram flour, curd and a pinch of turmeric into a paste. Apply this on the area three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour.

My skin is oily and I often get pus-filled pimples.Neelam

You may be having acne. Wash your face twice a day, in the morning and night, with a medicated soap. Then wipe it with an astringent lotion, using cotton wool. Mix a little rose water with sandalwood paste and apply it on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Or, boil neem leaves over a low flame. Cool and strain the liquid. Make a paste of the leaves and apply it daily on your face. Wash it off after half an hour. Mix cinnamon powder with a little lemon juice and a few drops of honey into a sticky paste. Apply it only on the pimples daily and leave it on for one or two hours. Mix multani mitti with rose water and lemon juice into a paste and apply it on your face two or three times a week. Wash it off after it dries. Use only oil-free products. Include fresh fruits, salads, sprouts and yoghurt in your daily diet. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning.

I have sensitive skin. I can’t use lemon with honey, because lemon does not suit my skin. Suggest a face pack for glowing skin.Srividya

You have not mentioned your skin type. Tone your skin daily with chilled rose water, using cotton wool pads. Wipe and stroke the skin with them. Then, pat it briskly with the rosewater-soaked pads. Add a pinch of turmeric to two teaspoons of curd or milk, and apply it daily on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Mix multani mitti and ripe papaya pulp with curd and apply it on your face twice a week. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

Does a mixture of egg, honey and olive oil help prevent split ends?Geetha

Egg, honey and olive oil help nourish the hair, and prevent split ends. Apply the mixture half-an-hour before a shampoo wash. Apply it on the ends too. Cutting off the split ends also helps. Then give the hair regular care. Twice a week, heat pure coconut oil and apply it on your hair. Apply it on the ends too. Use a mild herbal shampoo, taking care to use just a little of it. After a shampoo wash, massage your hair lightly with a little creamy conditioner. Leave it on for two minutes before rinsing it off. Apply a leave-in type of conditioner or hair serum, especially on the ends.
