Nearly 500 representatives from different corners of the country and more than 60 eminent

health experts would participate in a national seminar being held here to make young professionals aware of the efficacy of yoga in controlling life-style diseases.

The programme being organised by the Union Health Ministry in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National School for yoga aims to create mass awareness among the professionals and the public about the efficacy of Yoga in healthy lifestyle and in the management of lifestyle related disorders.

It will bring eminent Yoga experts, medical scientists, researchers and students on one platform, to share their knowledge and experience, health ministry officials said.

The experts would at the seminar make known the scientific and technical information available in research

progress in the field of yoga and discuss the issues of bringing the discipline in the mainstream of health are

delivery system.

According to medical professionals, increasing population, pollution and modern work culture, which sets time limit and demands speedy output on the part of the workers leads to life-style diseases like diabetes and hypertension.

In spite of the tremendous advancements in the modern medical system, the incidents of these disorders could not have been brought under control.

Moreover, modern medicine has its own limitations in terms of greater side effects and no role in the change of life style. Thus yoga plays a major role in not only controlling but also overcoming these conditions, they said.
