The indications of dengue fever are on the decline in the district with intensive containment measures undertaken throughout the district, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan said after reviewing facilities at the special dengue ward at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here on Thursday.

Increased public awareness has ensured people seek treatment in the initial stages of dengue, and the number of patients discharged from the medical college hospital after recovery has also increased, she noted. Four deaths have been attributed to dengue in the district this season.

Ms.Muralidharan interacted with patients admitted to the special dengue ward of the hospital and enquired after their treatment. She also reviewed the outpatient’s section, children’s ward, intensive care unit, maternity ward, and hostel for trainee nurses.

Drinking water pipes, water tanks, and sanitation facilities were inspected.

The Collector inspected the progress of construction works on the proposed super-specialty centre and maternity and child centre.
