Australian researchers are trailing a new dengue vaccine that would help avoiding the scourge of the potentially deadly fever.
It had taken 10 years to develop the vaccine which was now one step away from becoming licensed to fight the virus that causes severe fever, vomiting, headaches and joint pain, the ABC reported quoting the Institute for Child Health Research’s Peter Richmond.
“Researchers have engineered it so that you can get protection from the four main strains of dengue from the one vaccination - so that will stop you getting dengue at all, we hope,” he said.
“This has been studied both in children and adults and this is what we call phase three, the last stage of the clinical trial,” Dr. Richmond added.
