Three new tiger cubs have been sighted in Ranthambhore National Park, situated in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, elating wildlife enthusiasts here. With the new arrivals, the tiger population in Ranthambhore has gone up to 55.
Tigress T-13 and the newly-born cubs taking a stroll deep inside the tiger reserve were recently caught in the camera traps installed in the dense woods. Though the birth of the cubs was being speculated for some time, it could not be confirmed in the absence of evidence as the felines were mostly elusive.
The camera traps took the pictures of T-13, which had earlier traversed the distance between Sultanpur and Chambal, in the Halonda-Antri region of the national park. The tigress earlier gave birth to five cubs since 2008.
According to the Forest Department sources, the cubs appear to be about three months old. The number of cubs aged below one year in the tiger reserve has increased to six with the birth of the young felines.
