REIL gets Rs 300 cr order to set up solar power packs

Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL), a joint initiative of the Central and Rajasthan government, today said it has received a Rs 300 crore order from the state to set up solar power packs. REIL will install solar power packs at 249 panchayat samitis and 9,169 panchayats in Rajasthan.

A solar pack consists of solar-powered rechargeable batteries.

Out of this Rs 300 crore, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has already sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs 92 crore to the Miniratna Company.

The PSU has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rajasthan government for implementing this (solar power pack) project and subsequent five year maintenance, the statement said.

REIL is involved in the manufacturing of agro-dairy electronic items, solar photo voltaic modules, IT solutions and power generation through wind energy.

The company’s income was Rs 87.91 crore in 2008-09 while it was Rs 81.05 crore in 2007-08.
