Indian Overseas Bank has adopted the tiger for one year

The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has adopted tiger Cauvery in the Mysore zoo for one year from November 17, 2011 to November 16, 2012, according to a press release from the zoo here on Sunday. B.G. Ranganatha, General Manager, IOB, handed over a demand draft for Rs. 1 lakh to Conservator of Forests and Executive Director of the zoo B.P. Ravi.

The adoption of the tiger comes at a special time as the bank is celebrating its platinum jubilee year.

Chairman and Managing Director of IOB M. Narendra and Chairman of the Zoo Authority of Karnataka M. Nanjundaswamy were present.

The zoo houses eight adult tigers and two cubs; all have been adopted by different individuals and institutions.

The zoo has mobilised Rs. 23.44 lakh during the current year as proceeds from adoption of 240 different kinds of animals, including tigers, Mr. Ravi said in a statement. He also thanked the IOB for adopting the tiger.
