Haryana to promote beekeeping

With a view to promoting the apiculture and generating more self employment opportunities,

the Haryana agriculture department will organise beekeeping training camps in all the districts.

The training camps would be organised in each district in which as many as 50 farmers would be provided the detail training regarding beekeeping, a spokesman of the agriculture department said today.

He said a grant of Rs 16,000 has been provided to each trained farmers for supply of bee-colonies and bee-hives by the District Horticulture Officers. The trained farmers could also get a loan from banks and a grant of 30-35 per cent from Khadi boards and Khadi commissions, he added.

At present honey production is a lucrative business and it generates self employment opportunities to the unemployed youths also, he said.
