Bayer CropScience today said it has started production except the active ingredient Ethoprophos at its Ankleshwar plant in Gujarat.

The company started production after having been granted a three-month production allowance by the relevant authorities in Gujarat, a press release issued here said.

The company is confident that within the three-month period it will be able to answer all questions of the authorities in a satisfactory manner, the release said.

Bayer CropScience was asked to halt manufacturing activities at the Ankleshwar site on March 22 due to a fire that broke out at a storage tank.

The site of the fire, Agro-Chemicals Plant 4 (AC IV) will, however, not resume operations at this moment, the release said.

Bayer CropScience AG, a subsidiary of Bayer AG with annual sales of about EUR 6.5-billion is one of the world’s leading innovative crop science companies in crop protection, non-agricultural pest control, seeds and traits.
