21 projects in pipeline to decongest Delhi roads
Delhi Government plans to launch 21 new projects soon to decongest roads in the capital ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the PWD was working on 16 projects and 21 new projects are in the pipeline.
“Once all these projects are commissioned, it would change entire scenario of road traffic just before commencement of Commonwealth Games 2010,” the Chief Minister said . The project includes a 477-metre long flyover.
PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, who was also present on the occasion, asked his officials to expedite work on all on-going projects so that they could be completed well ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
This Grade Separator has been constructed with an aim to make the entire Outer Ring Road signal-free for through traffic.
Mr. Chauhan said his department has an action plan to closely monitor all ongoing projects.
Today, Dikshit also laid foundation stone of an ITI building at Mangolpuri Industrial Area.
The building would be earthquake-resistant and would have a rainwater harvesting system. The ITI, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 12.50 crore, would be commissioned before June 2010. - PTI
