Self-contained systems for flats
The Clean Kochi campaign, which aims to equip apartment complexes with biodegradable-waste management facilities, is being spearheaded by the Kerala Builders’ Forum. The initial enthusiasm shown by residents in adopting an apartment-level waste management system being spearheaded by the Kerala Builders’ Forum (KBF) has slackened, which has resulted in the forum scaling down the target of setting up bio-bins
in 100 apartment complexes to 50 by March-end. However, the builders are trying to attract the attention of the residents by widening the scope of the Clean Kochi campaign. It is mandatory for new buildings to have waste-processing units. The builders are trying to get all the residents’ associations in each apartment complex in Kochi to opt for composting units.
