When she is born

people mourn,

sometimes killed,

before her life’s dawn;

her existence questioned

when she is grown.

Suffering since childhood,

now afraid of her womanhood

she fears to walk alone.

With the lost hope of a better ’morrow

everyone moves neglecting her sorrow

her feathers clipped before she could try to fly.

Her innocence torn;

just because a girl she was born!

Today, she closes her eyes,

in an unconscious state;

seeking liberty in another world,

where she could change her fate.
