Postal strike prospects.

Fears were entertained during the last few days that Bombay postmen would go on another strike in order to get increase for every one of them and not to the majority and also wages during the days they were on strike. The postmen were yesterday [October 16] discussing among themselves the Press Communique issued from Simla regarding them. Mr. Love, Presidency Postmaster, spoke to the men pointing out the foolishness of taking rash steps. He explained to them the purpose of the Government Communique and advised them not to be foolish as to go on another strike. The postmen, it is understood, have made up their minds to act according to the advice given by Mr. Love.

The postmen held a meeting at Thakurdwar [later on Oct. 17] when they discussed the situation for over two hours. It transpired that the Hon’ble Sir Dinshaw Wacha is to have a consultation with the Presidency Postmaster to-day [Oct. 18] , and it was decided by the postmen not to move in the matter pending the result of consultation.
