The anguish expressed by former judge of the Madras High Court Prabha Sridevan over the inadequate representation of women jurists in the Indian judiciary is understandable (“Judiciary, an old boys’ club”, March 30). As one who has served in senior positions in the banking industry, I can say that most of my women officers have proved to be as highly responsible and diligent, if not better, as their male counterparts in executing work entrusted to them. This was especially reflected in data and numbers, the backbone of banking. I am sure that this approach to work should also apply to women jurists.
