Well deserved

This refers to the report “I owe it to The Hindu , says Punjab winner” (May 13). As a reader of the newspaper for over 65 years, I believe that there is absolute truth in the spontaneous acknowledgment by Sandeep Kaur, who has cleared her civil services examinations, that The Hindu 's Edit page and the Opinion section played a major role in her success. The manner in which the paper is serving the education and career cause of youth is praiseworthy.

Congratulations to Ms Kaur on her success! Her achievement proves that nothing can stop a person who is determined to succeed. Her acknowledgment of the role played by The Hindu in her success is a matter of pride to everyone associated with the newspaper. As a reader of over two decades, I have no hesitation in saying that the paper's design, content, and standard are indeed superlative. Its willingness to correct its mistakes is truly genuine.
