Water on the moon

This refers to the editorial “Yes, there’s water on the moon” (Sept. 26). The breakthrough will indeed help to unleash a new wave of moon missions by many countries. The day is not too far when man will colonise the moon. Thankfully, science is unravelling the secrets of the universe phase by phase.

While the discovery of water on the Moon is cause for exultation, it is time we looked at the ground reality. Not much attention is being paid to resolving the vexed water crisis that is rapidly affecting the economy, especially the agriculture sector. The government is taking huge loans from the World Bank and the ADB to resolve the water crisis and drought situation. The common man is unable to understand why a mission for water on the moon needs such attention.
