Wangari Maathai

The untimely demise of Peace Laureate Prof. Wangari Muta Maathai is sad as she was a beacon of hope from Africa and who propagated the green message. Her cheerful personality and ecological concern in expanding her efforts through her tree nurseries will always make us remember her contribution to the world.

“You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them,” Maathai once said on the website of the Green Movement, which she founded. She was an environmentalist par excellence and a great humanist.
