Wages of justice

The editorial “Wages of justice” (Jan. 27) makes a valid point for the payment of statutory minimum wages to workers under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Needless to say, the frequent increase in the cost of goods and services has been making even the Minimum Wages redundant. If the government can increase the DA of its employees every six months to offset the ever-increasing cost of living, there is no reason why it should not cross the ceiling of Rs. 100. The rights of the poor must be protected by implementing the Karnataka High Court order.
