This is with reference to the British jury's verdict in the “Lady Chatterley's Lover” case (“This Day That Age,” Nov. 4). The entire British media, with the sole exception of TheTimes , went gaga over the verdict. Even a sober newspaper like The Guardian came out with an editorial in which the obnoxious four-letter word was used more than once. When the din and noise died down, The Times wrote an editorial entitled “A Decent Reticence”. Whether it is art or literature, it is necessary to observe a decent reticence – that is, one should draw a line and say ‘Thus far and no farther'. I wish present day journalists follow the sound advice of TheTimes .
