It is appropriate for the U.S. to propose a cut in foreign military assistance to Pakistan by half (“U.S. proposes cut in aid to Pak.,” May 25). The other day, Pakistan was not allowed to talk at the Arab-American-Islamic Summit where the U.S. President was present. These two developments indicate that Islamabad does not enjoy the unquestioned support of America any more. Without checking the roots of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, it is not possible to curb the menace elsewhere. India needs to mount pressure by continuing with its efforts to isolate Pakistan diplomatically till it stops fostering terror.
