This refers to the report “CAG hits back at RIL, British Gas” (Nov. 17). It is strange that a constitutional entity is at the mercy of corporate entities to conduct a lawful audit. Truly, the people are more upset than the CAG. A government which seems to be more than happy in netting only a nominal amount from corporates after the recent 2G spectrum auctions and which then mocks at the auditor on that count, cannot be expected to support the CAG in the matter of this audit. Either the CAG should approach the judiciary or the Supreme Court should suo moto intervene in the issue.
