The death of Jacintha Saldanha — who committed suicide following a hoax call by two radio jockeys impersonating as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, seeking information on Kate Williams — is extremely unfortunate. A very competent nurse has lost her life for no fault of hers.
There are many TV programmes in which pranks are played, catching people off-guard. Some could be funny but some of them are really rude. It could be utterly shocking for people to react to a sudden situation. Should someone lose his or her life in the name of entertainment and fun? Some guidelines should be put in place to ensure that such programmes do not go out of hand.
