The Kangaroos leapt over the Kiwis in a glorious final. It is wonderful that the Australian cricket team has won the Cricket World Cup for the fifth time. Team India has much to learn from them and prepare well for the next World Cup.

What is striking is the way in which New Zealand accepted defeat — in a sensible and cheerful manner. In contrast is the manner in which India was treated after being knocked out of the semi-finals. Facing loss and in a graceful way is a part and parcel of any sport.

New Delhi

Michael Clarke’s decision to quit the game of cricket is laudable, a selfless act that gives enough time for the team and the next captain to prepare for the next World Cup. Such steps are the reason why Australia continues to dominate the world in the game of cricket.
