I thoroughly appreciate the “Think. Eat. Save.” theme of this year’s Environment Day. Wastage of food is a huge challenge to society. Although our technology enables a lot of food to be produced in a small area of land, food shortage will remain if we continue to squander our food resources. We must do our best to reduce food wastage.
This can start from our homes. Frugal and sufficient consumption will ensure that the theme is followed in letter and in spirit.
In a developing country like India where millions go to bed hungry, it is imperative that food resources be judiciously used. The theme should be prominently displayed in all educational institutions, offices and hotels to sensitise people on the huge impact of food wastage.
