The Taj Mahal row

Uttar Pradesh MLA Sangeet Som’s statement on the Taj Mahal has been blown out of proportion (“Taj a blot on India’s culture: Sangeet Som”, Oct. 17). Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath do not support Mr. Som’s views. When someone says India should be cut into pieces, some so-called progressive elements in this country say that everyone is allowed their views as freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Constitution. Similarly, the MLA is entitled to his. His views do not represent the BJP’s views. He has not made an anti-national statement.
