That the UPA government has appointed Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma as the next Comptroller and Auditor General even while the controversy surrounding the purchase of VVIP helicopters is raging shows it is not serious about dealing with corruption.

Chandra Prakash Trivedi,

New Delhi

The appointment has created a clear conflict of interest as Mr. Sharma will judge his own accountability in the military procurements made during his tenure. It is pointless to expect objectivity to prevail.

N. R. Ramachandran,

Chennai
