Temple treasures

It is distressing to note that the gold reserves/other treasures at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram (“Troubling questions on temple treasure’s safety,” April 23) is under the scanner, suspected to have been clandestinely stolen by none other than the temple authorities. There are innumerable incidents of this kind prevalent in smaller temples. Many of the temple boards are not above board. The persons who constitute the board most often get these positions only by using political connections. The Kerala government needs to make an inventory of all the belongings, perhaps with international help.
