Tamil Thai is just a figment and imagined personification of the love for the Tamil language by a selective Tamil-speaking populace (Aug.14). It is obvious that all this has a definite political connotation. Due to its heritage and its literary wealth, the Tamil language will always be cherished and admired. One only has to see it come alive in the media and in films — which show how popular and alive the language is. To anchor our love for the mother in a figurine is a poor substitute. The location will only become a picnic spot that would support commercial activity.
