West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ( >Editorial, Nov. 26 ) has the potential to restore her image as a grassroots politician after her credibility has been marred by the Saradha scam and the Burdwan blasts. She must eschew emotionalism and be realistic. West Bengal voted for her in order to usher in change. While her governance has some positives, there are negatives too, such as rising violence and an autocratic culture.
With a rising BJP, she has a real problem on her hands. Prudence and political maturity can fetch her dividends. Bengal should not lose a people-oriented leader.
